Macbook Pro 15 or Sony Vaio F Series laptop?

I plan to get a new computer. But i don’t know which one I should buy. Both seem really cool but I can’t decide. I’m more of a PC user then a Mac user. I use Pc’s at home and Mac’s at school. Which is better: HP or Sony Vaio laptops?

I need a laptop for school and I want it to last for all 4 years. First off, how much RAM, hard drive, etc. does a college student need? I’ve narrowed down my search of laptops to HP and Sony (don’t really like Dell or anything else). Money isn’t that big of an issue for me, I know that Sony’s cost more than HP but I hear they are more reliable. Is that true? Which brand would you recommend? The 2 laptops I’m considering are:
