Security Camera Question?

Last year I had troubles with someone vandalizing my Christmas decorations. I bought a wireless camera and the receiver for my front yard security and flood lights on a motion sensor. I also have an ATI TV tuner card with the RCA video/audio – input. My receiver can connect to the A/V input and I can record the video to my hard drive. I don’t want to leave this 24/7 and have to review hours of footage. Instead, I would like it to only record onto my HD when the motion sensors are activated, and then keep recording for 5 or 10 minutes and turn off. What additional hardware and/or software do I need to accomplish this?
Thanks,
Joe

can a home made infra red camera allow you to see infra red beams used in home security?

i was on youtube and i saw a video that taught me how to make a night vision camera . to do this you need 4 red celofane lens cut outs and 6 blue celofane lens cut outs placed in the lens in a pattern of blue red blue red blue red. it said that it would prevent all light from exiting the lens except for infrared beams. than if you point the infra red beams at somthing and look at the same object with a digital camera made in the seventies that can see infrared beams you can use it as night vision. my question however is, does home security and motion sensors use infrared beams to sence movement in a room and if so if you use just the infrared sencing camera could you see the infrared beam and avoid it ? im not intrerested in using this so i can use this to rob people im just curious. best wishes

what problems might I encounter whilst trying to spend a night in the IKEA showroom?

Some friends have ponied up 0 for me to spend a night – undetected – in the IKEA showroom.

I’ve cased the place for cameras, and there are a few. I didnt see any motion sensors. I’m wondering if they have overnight security guards in the showroom.

Anyone work at IKEA? Know what the store closing procedure is?

And YES, I have heard about the new IKEA hostel in Norway. and no, I won’t consider just going there instead.

How much juice do internet security cameras use?

I am looking for a system to monitor my warehouse via the internet. Ill probably need about 6-8 cameras, and they will need to have motion sensors so that they can double up as my alarm system at night. I will need IR too because i dont want to have to leave the lights on 24/7.

Any advice on the above would be appreciated. However, my main question revolves around the fact that we dont use mainline broadband in there, we have Mi-Fi. So, will a camera system be suitable for use with Mi-Fi? And how much ‘juice’ will the camera system go through….ie will the cameras constantly need to be connected and feeding data, and approximately how much? (Currently we get 15MB per month allowance….is this enough?)

Thanks for all help (i know i could ask a salesman, but as always they will only tell me YES!)
