Need help van keeps getting broken into?
OK Starting out 3 weeks ago I had my van broken into. All he got was my stereo head unit and my GPS. My neighbors saw him and he ran off before he could take anything else.
The next night he came back and tried to open the door again. Once again my neighbors scaried him off. I went out the following week and had alarm and a new stereo head unit put in the van. I also installed security cameras on top of the house facing the van and a motion sensor on the entrance to my driveway. Two nights later I get him on video running into my yard and setting off my alarm by pulling on the door. He ran away before I could get outside.
The next week the same guy showed up at 10AM during the day with a baseball bat and walked right up to the car drawing back like he was going to bust out the window. My neighbor once again came out and threatened to shoot the guy if he didn’t leave. The police came out but the guy was long gone.
We know what he looks like and have a description of the car but the license plate is in the back windshield and he takes it down when he pulls up to the house.
The police won’t help all they say is call us if you see him in the area but the problem is he is a smash and grab kinda guy. I can’t afford to keep fixing my van and there really isn’t anything in there worth stealing now. A junk 0 stereo is all.
My question is what can I do about this guy? Anyone have any suggestions? My neighbor suggested loading my shotgun with buckshot and taking out the guys tire when he tries to leave. Anyone happen to know if this is legal? I would hate to go to jail for trying to stop this guy but I am running out of options here.
It’s not just my van either he’s targeting several of my neighbors have been hit as well. The guy hits and runs never at the same car for more than a couple minutes and is long gone before the police even have a chance to come out.
And please don’t tell me to wait it out the cops will catch him eventually. Yeah they might but even then I doubt if I see any money paid back for damages or any of the property he stole returned. I need a fix for this now….

HELP! Installed Infrared LED Night Day Security Camera Problems…please help urgent!?
Details:
EzWatch Pro Night/Day Infrared LED Security Outdoor Camera
there tech service isnt there till morning and we need to catch some vandals.
Got the camera today from ups, installed it tonight, worked great. Its on for about an hour and craps out on me. Itll work and show picture/video when a light is on, but the infrared stopped working. When looking at the camera, the infrared leds are blinking/flickering instead of staying on, this is evident when looking at the video monitor as well. Camera is fine if theres a light source now.
How we have it hooked up, about 5 feet from monitor and source inside, hooked into its on monitor and power source. The camera is hidden inbetween 2 motion sensor flood lights outside.
We had the flood lights turned on for motion detection, but then turned them off when the camera stopped working thinking maybe the overheated it..we dont know..
any ideas here????? in the last week my house has been vandalised 3 times…

Security Camera Question?
Last year I had troubles with someone vandalizing my Christmas decorations. I bought a wireless camera and the receiver for my front yard security and flood lights on a motion sensor. I also have an ATI TV tuner card with the RCA video/audio – input. My receiver can connect to the A/V input and I can record the video to my hard drive. I don’t want to leave this 24/7 and have to review hours of footage. Instead, I would like it to only record onto my HD when the motion sensors are activated, and then keep recording for 5 or 10 minutes and turn off. What additional hardware and/or software do I need to accomplish this?
Thanks,
Joe

Hidden Camera Detection? Works if item is a motion detector and not a camera?
I’m a 20-year old college student who’s renting a room from a Vietnamese couple in their fifties. I’m one of 3 other girls renting a room from them. When I moved in, my room was somewhat "decorated"–there was a bed, artwork, and, among other things, a nightlight. I unplugged it since I sleep better at night anyway. However, there is one of these lights in the bathroom adjacent to my room. I always thought it was odd to have a nightlight in the bathroom, so one day I was coming into the bathroom at night when all the other lights were off, and I realized that there is a motion sensor on the nightlight that causes the light to only turn on when someone is around. It’s also pretty odd that (even though this is the only electrical outlet in the bathroom) the nightlight is pointing straight at the toilet and shower. I now unplug the nightlight whenever I come into the bathroom and cover it with other items, then plug it in after I leave. I really want to buy a wireless camera detector.
I was wondering if 1) Any bug detector I buy will basically do the same job. There are models that are very expensive, but I (being a college student) wanted to buy the model [http://www.uspystore.com/store/item.asp?ITEM_ID=61&DEPARTMENT_ID=86]. Would it actually work? And 2) If I do buy the bug detector, will it set off a false alarm when it encounters the motion detector? 3) If it would set off a false alarm, would I have to buy a better model so that it can distinguish between the two? 4) Is there any place I can -rent- a hidden camera detector instead of spending so much money on one? 5) Is there anyone who has experienced anything similar to this? I’m not sure if I’m making a big deal out of nothing, but I’d rather be safe than sorry. Even though my landlords seem relatively nice, they are rather private and I’ve never talked much to them. My roommates and I are all fairly attractive, and, well, neither of my landlords seem to have a job. We’re in a good neighborhood,
and the house is pretty nice (It’s a 5-bedroom, 2-story house in Southern California). What do you think? Please only answer the bug detector question if you have knowledge about survellience equipment. Thanks for reading this.
Here is the website of the camera detector. It didn’t show up in context:
