how to catch someone breaking into my car?

someone is breaking into my car stealing things while i am inside working. there is no security or security camera where i work. i lock my car and they still get in. thought about putting a camera of some sorts in my car with motion detector but they would still that too. besides i wouldn’t know how to set this type of thing up. any suggestions?

Home security systems.?

Does anyone know about home security. I want to hook up a motion detector to a camera and then to to a computer.
Is that at all possible or are there other ways of capturing the "bad guy" on a PC hard drive?

Can another tenant put camera's in without landlords permission?

I live in a three family house in massachusetts. After I moved in, I noticed a camera pointed at the front door of the house. I asked the landlord, and he said the tentants on the first floor put it in without permission. I live on the second floor. I use the side door, and today, the tenant on the first floor installed a motion detector near the side door! They do not use this door nor can they since it is my private entrance. Is this illegal? I asked the landlord to have it removed ASAP but he does not understand english very well so I am not sure what is going on now. The tenant below us does not need to know where we are, when we are leaving and coming home. I just checked the mail (in the middle of writing this) and there are security lights freshly installed outside and another motion detector at the front door.

Using a camcorder to catch vandals?

I have two camcorders: Samsung SCD23 and RCA CC9360. I also have someone sneaking through my backyard and causing trouble. Since I’m limited to recording time, what I’d like to do is plug the camera into AC and aim it out the window, but maybe have a motion detector outside which would trigger the camcorder to start recording when there’s movement. Any ideas? The vandalism isn’t severe enough to justify spending hundreds or more on hi-tech security equipment.

Can I legally monitor my side of the dorm room without my roommate's knowledge?

My friend has a very important question… Lately, he’s been suspecting his roommate of messing with his things in his absence in the dorm room.

His laptop has a webcam on it with a motion detector. He decided to catch his roommate in the act. He set up his motion detector and positioned his camera to his own side of the room; you can’t see his roommate’s side at all. He caught his roommate on webcam messing with his stuff.

He wants to file charges because his roommate stole something (only worth a few bucks, but still.) He wants to show authorities that he caught his roommate stealing, but he doesn’t know if it’s legal or not to monitor his own side of the dorm without his roommate’s knowledge.

    Is this legal? Thanks.

Recommendation for a web-cam to capture a stalker.?

To start off, I’ve already been to the police and the court systems and have a restraining order against this individual. Even though I have this restraining order and have reported every time this person has "popped up" at several locations I’ve been to, I am certain this person has been on my property when I’m gone (I can’t go into the details).

I would like to know if anyone could recommend a good web-cam. I don’t have the money for a security system and survalance (sp?) cameras, but figured if I had something I could hook up to my PC computer and leave it on while I’m gone, it may help as evidence. I’m not very familiar with the web-cams and their programs and I don’t think I need web-casting (unless if someone knows of an easy and free one, I’d look into it). I plan on setting the web-cam in my window, looking down from a second floor window. It would be nice if it had a time-lapse feature and/or motion detector capability so that it records for a period of time if it sees motion (ie. someone walking across my lawn or driving slowly past my house). Also money, or lack of it, is a little bit of an issue, but not entirely. What megapixels are recommended, keeping in mind I’m trying to capture someone on video and it’s being recorded from a second floor window.

Any other advice would be appreciated. Please, keep the information pertaining to the web-cam, not what I should be doing to this individual.

    Many thanks.

What action should I take, Concerning Drugs. I say this because next door the tendant is dealing.?

Next door in this apartment a person is dealing Drugs. I set up a security system to protect my wife. The alarm went off and I went out back and sure enough he was taking money in exchange for Drugs. Not on camera, I saw it myself. He exclaimed in a acousted maner that "he was Dealing, so F–king what" Isaid nothing and went back into the apartment. Since then I have installed a lock on the gate in which the traffic flowed and it has almost stopped all traffic. A wall in which the next door tendant had installed was kicked in. He claimed that it was a fire exit that I had locked and contacted the main apartment office. I had a fire inspector look at the property and said it was not a fire exit and to lock the gate since it was attached to my apartment. I slowed down the activities on the side and behind my apartment and installed a motion Detector device to light up the space behind my apartment. The next door tendant said "I was history, if this kept up" interference. What should I do

In Texas, will surveillance camera footage be admissible in court for trespassing cases?

I have neighbors on either side who go through my property to visit each other but I’ve told them not to do it for years. Finally I posted No Trespassing signs but they stole or vandalized most of them. Police are involved, and they said THEY had to see it and I had to be there. That doesn’t make sense to me as they are serving them criminal trespass notices and I would think video evidence time stamped would be good enough. Also, is there any law against putting up a motion-detector that shines a light when there is trespassing? It’s between two houses where bedrooms are, but no one should be trespassing, and I want the light to be on to show who is there, but only when there is someone there.
