non-encrypted e-mail servers?

I have a security camera system that can send me email alerts if motion is detected within the cameras view. The problem is it has to send it via a "non-encrypted e-mail server". Does anyone know where I can sign up for a non-encrypted e-mail service? Thank you.

I would like to set up a home network security system, any suggestions?

I would like to install up to four cameras, connected to my home network. Has anybody put together a cheap DIY surveillance system in their houses? What did you do?

A few specifics:
- I would like to be able to record up to 24 hours of mid to high quality color video.
- I would like motion detection to trigger recording, and send an email alert.
- I have a few spare computers I can dedicate to monitoring/recording.
- Wireless would be great, but I can easily run my own ethernet cables, or rca cables.
- Sound is not necessary.
- I can set up complicated systems with no problem if it means saving a few bucks by not getting a fancy all-inclusive surveillance system.
- The ability to watch cameras remotely would be nice.
- I currently have a Linksys N wireless router.

Senior Prank?

I need a very good, and harmless, senior prank. Our last senior class sucked, and we want to be remembered. Our school is outdoors, with every classroom entrance to the outside, and there are no cameras or motion detectors that we know of.

Teenage daughter sneaking out at night?

I did not catch my daughter sneaking out at night, I wish I had. One of her friends came to me and told me that he needed to tell me something and he did not want my daughter to find out that he told me. He proceeded to tell me that she had snuck out a few nights prior. I am very thankful that my daughter’s friend cares enough about her to ‘rat her out’ so I do some how need to keep his secret. Do I need to catch her myself? Do I need to put up motion detectors or cameras now that I know? Any suggestions would be GREAT!!!
Now that I know, I want so much to confront her and punish her, let her know how dangerous sneaking out can be…..but I do need this friend to continue to tell me if she does inappropriate things. I seem to be stuck…
I do know it is for a guy, he has been kicked out of school and is on probation for drinking and driving while stealing a car. We have had many sex talks, the dangers and HER responsibility in the behavior and not just the guys. I do not approve of her seeing this young man, although I do not stop her from spending time with him here while we are all home or with his family.

I like the idea of telling her a neighbor told me. I plan on telling her tomorrow that a neighbor has a surveillance camera on, and ask her if there is anything she wants to tell me. Then I can give her a chance to tell me herself and it will not involve her friend at all.

Recommendation for a web-cam to capture a stalker.?

To start off, I’ve already been to the police and the court systems and have a restraining order against this individual. Even though I have this restraining order and have reported every time this person has "popped up" at several locations I’ve been to, I am certain this person has been on my property when I’m gone (I can’t go into the details).

I would like to know if anyone could recommend a good web-cam. I don’t have the money for a security system and survalance (sp?) cameras, but figured if I had something I could hook up to my PC computer and leave it on while I’m gone, it may help as evidence. I’m not very familiar with the web-cams and their programs and I don’t think I need web-casting (unless if someone knows of an easy and free one, I’d look into it). I plan on setting the web-cam in my window, looking down from a second floor window. It would be nice if it had a time-lapse feature and/or motion detector capability so that it records for a period of time if it sees motion (ie. someone walking across my lawn or driving slowly past my house). Also money, or lack of it, is a little bit of an issue, but not entirely. What megapixels are recommended, keeping in mind I’m trying to capture someone on video and it’s being recorded from a second floor window.

Any other advice would be appreciated. Please, keep the information pertaining to the web-cam, not what I should be doing to this individual.

Many thanks.

Has anybody tried peephole cameras? Do they work well?

I am referring to cameras that you put on the peephole of your door that look outside. They can be good for security.

I just wonder how well they work as far as being able to see anything. And I didn’t find any that had a motion sensor, so it looks like you’d be scrolling through hours of footage to find anything of use.

Is there really such a thing as citizen's arrest?

I have thieves that come and steal bicycles, fishing poles, a bastetball, stuff like that. But they ignore the hundreds of dollars worth of tools. For obvious reasons, I"m quite certain the thieves are kids. Regarding this, I asked Y!A once before if I could use Mace on them if I catch them in my yard. Not such a good idea. Too many legal repercussions. But what about a citizen’s arrest? Is there such a thing anymore? How does it work. These kids might be afraid of the police, but what’s to keep them from running away from me and laughing all the way home. I can’t afford cameras and security. At best, I can install a motion detector light, and scare the bejeebers out of them when the light comes on. I’m a pretty tough gal when it comes to protecting what’s mine and if these really are kids, I have no problem facing them, after all it’s MY yard they’re stealing from. Any advice will help. I hate this feeling of helplessness.
Please look at my other question on Y!A about fences and fence posts.
